The Difference between Toefl IBT and PBT Toefl
Toefl
IBT
(Internet Based Test)
This test is divided into 4 sections, namely reading, listening, writing, and
speaking. Here are the details of his test:
- Reading. We are given long passages of several paragraphs, then are required to answer questions related to the paragraph. There are several readings with various themes given to us
- Listening. In general on listening we listen to something and then answer some questions from there. There are two kinds of audio on listening: the first is lecture like in lecture, and the second is a conversation between two people. As in actual lectures, we are allowed to record what we hear.
- Writing. Writing there are two parts. The first is reading a reading, then we answer the question posed by making an essay. The second is to write an essay containing personal opinions on an issue, if not mistaken for at least 300 words.
- Speaking. The devastating part of my value. In speaking we talk to a microphone. In contrast to talking to people, there will be no feedback from the other person, so it will feel very awkward, as if we are talking alone. There are three parts. The first one we answer is something personal (I'm told to share my life experience), the second is to give an opinion, and the third summarizes a lecture. Because I'm not used to stumbling here.
Toefl
PBT
(Paper Based Test TOEFL)
or in our language is a paper-based TOEFL test. As the name implies, this test
is done on paper with three test sessions namely Listening, Structure, and
Reading. This TOEFL type has a range of values or scores from 310 to 677 as
the maximum value. This test lasts for 2 to 2.5 hours. Currently, PBT-TOEFL is
no longer applied internationally, except for a few countries. However, there
are many local agencies in Indonesia that are still willing to accept the
results of PBT-TOEFL scores.
